About Bal Harbour Homes
Bal Harbour village is less than one square mile of some of the most luxurious high-rise condominium buildings as well as a gated private neighborhood of single family homes in Florida. Bal Harbour is a peninsula bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the East, the Haulover Inlet to the North, Biscayne Bay to the West and the town of Surfside and Miami Beach on it's South side. Bal Harbour received its name from a combination of Bay and Atlantic to create the Bal part of the name. The village was incorporated in 1946 by industrialist Robert Graham and a few short years later, the first hotel was built in the village. In 1965 The Whitman family built the world famous Bal Harbour Shops and the town has become synonymous with the ultimate in luxury with the likes of Rodeo Drive, Worth Avenue and New York's Fifth Avenue.
Bal Harbour's high-rise condominium buildings homes are located along the beach on the east side of Collins Avenue and the gated area with single family homes is located on the west side of Collins Avenue with about 30 of them located on the wide bay overlooking Biscayne Bay and the Canal separating Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Islands to the West. The Condominium Buildings include the recently built world famous Saint Regis chain of hotels. The property that for decades served as the Bal Harbour Club, is now being transformed into the ultra luxury Oceana of Bal Harbour Condominium.
The Bal Harbour Marina is located behind the gates of the residential section. The marina is home to boats and yachts up to 135 ft in length. While providing perfect protection for the high value vessels, the marina's location also provides easy access to Biscayne Bay and the Haulover inlet with its access to the Atlantic Ocean. The village of Bal Harbour is situated 20 minutes from South Beach, 10 minutes from the Aventura Mall and a 30 minute ride to both Miami International and Fort Lauderdale Airports The Bal Harbour shops complex also includes several restaurants and the neighboring towns of Surfside and Bay Harbor add more restaurants and shops within walking distance.
